The Annual Scottish RCPOD Conference is back for 2025 with Glasgow hosting a fresh format over two days designed to engage and inspire.
Join leading podiatry professionals at the Scottish RCPOD Annual Conference 2025 in Glasgow. This two-day event will explore advancements in footwear and podiatric practice, offering valuable insights, networking opportunities, and CPD credits.
Saturday will delve into podiatric practice, we are working an exciting agenda with a dynamic programme.

Mandy graduated with a BSc in Podiatry from Glasgow in 1992 & completed an MSc in 2003 from Manchester Metropolitan University in Sports Injury & Therapy.
Mandy worked in a number of NHS board areas before taking up a full time lecturer post in 2008 at GCU. Mandy is also the lead podiatrist at Hampden Sports Injury Clinic working there with professional sports people & athletes and also non-professional sporting and active patients.
Mandy has been the Clinical Director for Special Olympics GB since 2005, a voluntary position, which has given her the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally to SO Games, taking students with her to experience working with these complex athletes. Mandy has also had extensive experience at Commonwealth Games and European Games. For her work in this field Mandy was awarded a fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow) and also a Fellowship of the Royal College of Podiatry.
Mandy’s research interests are in the effect of orthoses on human movement and at present is undertaking her PhD looking at runners with high arch feet.
Zoe Wilson is a specialist musculoskeletal podiatrist based in the Lake District in the North West of England. She studied her undergraduate degree at the university of Salford before going on to complete her MSc in Theory of Podiatric Surgery at the Glasgow Caledonian University.
Zoe has a specialist interest in Foot & Ankle Surgery and Biomechanics working in surgical units across the UK and has recently broadened her expertise in Ultrasound by completing her PGCert in Medical Ultrasound in Glasgow. Zoe started her first private practice in 2017 and has since set up a 2nd in 2021. She continues to grow her multidisciplinary lower limb practice encompassing Podiatrists, Physiotherapists and Podiatric surgery. The clinic offers 3D gait analysis, diagnostic ultrasound, injection therapy, rehabilitation services, footwear, podiatry and minor surgery.
Zoe has a passion for raising the profile of podiatry and is a speaker across the UK and Ireland as well as Internationally. An avid golfer and lover of Scotland, she is very much looking forward to our conference in Glasgow and looks forward to meeting many of you.
Professor Jane McAdam is Chair of Council for the Royal College of Podiatry and Associate Dean Enterprise and Engagement at the University of Salford.
She worked privately in Australia, and then joined the NHS working in various roles in London and Salford – overall working as clinician for over 25 years. Her areas of interest are biomechanics, orthotics and pressure relief, which includes complex high risk patients as well as providing stock, modular and bespoke footwear.Jane is a Director and the Chair of the Council of the Royal College of Podiatry. She is an appointed Governor to the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust in Greater Manchester.
In her role at the University of Salford, Jane is part of the senior management team for the School of Health & Society, with senior executive responsibility for the School across strategic and operational key performance indicators.
Outside work Jane enjoys gardening, renovating her crumbling house, seeing friends, reading on holiday, watching rugby union, and crime or espionage dramas.
Louisa’s professional background is Adult Nursing with a specialist interest in Public Health, Forensic Science and Child Protection. After qualifying as a nurse from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2016 she subsequently undertook her SCPHN PgD in 2018 and Child Protection in Practice PgC in 2019.
Louisa has previously worked as both a Health Visitor and Child Protection Nurse Advisor across NHSGGC and NHSFV. She is currently working in the capacity of NHSFV Bairns' Hoose Co-ordinator to determine the feasibility of implementing such a model to the Forth Valley area. The Bairns' Hoose model aims to adopt a collaborative, right's based approach to Child Protection services and ensures decisions are child centred. The project team includes representation from Police, Social Work, Health and Education. Together we aim to evaluate current Child Protection services and capture the lived experience of children and their families.
Shumela Ahmed is the Co-founder and Managing Director of the Resilience Learning Partnership. She has a background in adult education. Shumela directs the work of a lived experience led organisation Resilience Learning Partnership and her ambition is to see lived experience as the central force within public policy design and implementation within public and third sector services. Resilience Learning Partnership is an education and training provider which supports the health, social care, education, housing & criminal justice sectors in trauma-informed practice.

arah-Jane Walls is a musculoskeletal podiatrist and researcher with over 25 years of experience in private practice, rehabilitation, and clinical innovation. She owns two multidisciplinary MSK clinics in Glasgow, home to a team of podiatrists, physiotherapists, sports rehabilitators, and Pilates teachers offering integrated in-house rehabilitation. Her clinics also house the Clinical Pilates Academy, which trains instructors from across the UK.Sarah-Jane is a leading voice in the use of AI and smart automation to streamline clinic operations. She develops intelligent systems that ensure 24/7 call answering, smart live chat with built-in knowledge centres, automated lead capture, and seamless website integration—minimizing admin workload, preventing lost leads, and improving overall clinic efficiency.Her academic work focuses on rheumatology and diagnostic ultrasound, with particular interest in ultrasound and inflammatory joint disease. She holds a Master’s in Global Public Health, BSc (Hons) degrees in Sports Science and Podiatry, and a Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound. She is currently pursuing a PhD in biomechanics, Ultrasound and rheumatology.As a consultant, Sarah-Jane helps healthcare professionals integrate AI tools into daily workflows, including automated patient management, AI-powered documentation, and predictive analytics. She lectures internationally on digital transformation in MSK care, advocating for systems that allow clinicians to focus more on patient outcomes and less on administration—ultimately increasing both impact and profitability.
Gloria has run her own accountancy practice for over 26 years, specialising in business growth. She is extremely passionate about helping businesses and her mission is to help you understand your numbers so you grow sustainably and get the just rewards you deserve!
As a keen gardener she sees the parallel between nurturing plants and growing a business. Both need patience and the knowledge to know what to leave alone and when to intervene for the most growth.

Bilal Jamal was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2017. His NHS practice is based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is a member of the multi-disciplinary diabetic foot team. He graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2006 and completed his orthopaedic training in the West of Scotland. This has been supplemented with further subspecialist training in Sheffield and Edinburgh. Furthermore, he was the recipient of the prestigious European Foot and Ankle Society travelling fellowship allowing him to gain further experience in orthopaedic surgery by visiting internationally recognised centres in Heidelberg, Lyon and Verona throughout his career.
Mr Jamal’s practice consists entirely of foot, ankle and limb reconstruction surgery where he offers the latest surgical approaches and techniques to maximises patient outcomes. Mr Jamal regularly performs corrections of lower limb deformity, non-union surgery and limb lengthening and is a keen proponent of ankle distraction arthroplasty for ankle arthritis. He uses a variety of devices to aid optimal outcomes including lengthening nails such as the PRECICE nail, as well as ilizarov frames.

Lisa is a Senior Lecturer in podiatry in Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and honorary podiatrist in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Lisa graduated from GCU in 2008 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry and in 2010 with a PgC in medical (musculoskeletal (MSK)) ultrasound, for use in both clinical practice and research. In 2014, Lisa graduated with a PhD titled: ‘Foot Involvement in Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Prospective Ultrasound Study’.
In 2013, Lisa worked as a Lecturer in podiatry in the University of Western Australia, before returning to GCU in 2015. In GCU, she contributes to research and teaching across both podiatry and ultrasound programmes and has as a clinical/research role using musculoskeletal ultrasound in a hybrid rheumatology, musculoskeletal and podiatry clinic at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH). Lisa is a member of the MSK Research Health Group in GCU and leads on / contributes to a range of foot and ankle based MSK research projects using ultrasound in a range of chronic health conditions, primarily involving the rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs), with publications in this field.
Lisa is currently principle investigator of a study funded by Great Foundations from 2024, investigating the utility of ultrasound in podiatry. Lisa is currently a member of the RCPSG. She further represents the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) on the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) committee and is Directorate of Education for the RCPod Specialist Ultrasound Advisory group. In this role, Lisa co-authored the 2024 RCPod guidelines for podiatrist use of diagnostic MSK ultrasound.
